BFI Library Trip

The final film i will be studying is personally one of my favorite films of all time the timeless "Lion King". I have chosen this because this allows me to compare the traditional 2D approach to animation films to the latest modern 3D, computer animated movies. This can be argued that now due to pixar being around that the use of classic 2D animation is extinct due to their being no demand for it from audiences anymore. I personally believe that this is not true but however there are not many 2D feature length films released compared to computer animated features anymore due to the audiences demand, Also that these are not wanted anymore except for sequels that are not fully promoted like the latest pixar move they are not shown in the cinema and sold straight from the shops. An example of this is Lion King 3.. Yes there is a Lion king 3

Another Film i will be studying for my project is Disney Pixars Toy story. This was a revolutionary film due to the fact that this was the first pixar full feature length movie. So you may be asking why did i choose finding nemo over the original toy story, well its due to that toy story is the original film whereas i see finding nemo as the finished article and the film thats effects and animation takes my breath away

I am also going to look at the film Shrek due to the fact that because of the impact that pixar had on the animation market. Their rivals had to retaliate and compete with them, these were dreamworks and used celebrity voice overs including (Eddie Murphy) to compete with the quality of Disney's Pixar animation studios

Main Focus Film

I have chosen to use the idea of how animation and pixar has effected the way in which animations have to be made. My main focus film is Disney Pixars Finding Nemo. I have chosen this because this film expresses the pure genious and ambition behind pixars into reshaping the way audiences experience animation films. This film contains ground-breaking technology and is a disney modern classic
